During our most recent visit to one of our LTC homes, we were blown away by the beauty of their courtyard garden. It was so obvious that it was a haven for the residents living there as well as for different kinds of wildlife! They have raised beds for vegetables for the residents to taste a hot sun-kissed tomato, large beautiful trees to create breeze and shade, a walkway to allow any person with different accessibilities to observe and feel the garden, and not only that, but they have TONS of common milkweed which will support our dwindling monarch butterfly populations whose role is to also help pollinate the food we eat! The wildness and different levels from ground cover to tree canopy creates a “food forest” for all… exactly what our residents need to thrive and be nourished in our homes.
